BOOKS OF INTEREST
I read to stimulate my mind and add to the data bank of knowledge already simmering within me. New concepts and ideas are almost as good as chocolate. What I am seeking is a higher consciousness and the wisdom to make choices in my life that add to my health, happiness and well-being and to utilize this information to assist others. I hope that you enjoy these books as much as I have. Namaste.
****The Divine Matrix by Gregg Braden. Gregg in layman terms describes a universal field of energy that we all live in. Do not read this before retiring because your mind will not want to go to sleep! If you are interested in understanding life on a deeper level, this is a must read.
****The Heart's Code by Dr. Paul Pearsall. This is truly a synthesis of ancient wisdom, modern medicine, scientific research and personal experience that proves that YOUR heart is the link between your body, mind and spirit. Paul shows how the heart not only feels but also thinks and with each heartbeat communicates with the entire body. Our heart affects our immune system as well as all systems in our body. Better than watching CSI or House, the stories Paul shares about heart transplant recipients are amazing and thought-provoking. Everyone that has a heart should read this.
****The Biology of Belief by Dr. Bruce Lipton. I met Dr. Lipton at an International Science and Consciousness Conference in 2001. I couldn't believe my eyes--a scientist that was energetic and enthused about his work. I liked him immediately. A former medical school professor and research scientist, Bruce validated with scientific data what I have always believed--that our genes and DNA do not necessarily control our biology. Our DNA is controlled by our perceptions, beliefs and thoughts. It takes a while to wrap your consciousness and what it really means around that concept, huh!
****In the Zone by Michael Murphy and Rhea A White. This is a book about transcendent experience in sports but it applies to everyones life. We have all had moments of extraordinary functioning, where time stood still and we were in the Zone performing beyond our usual level or doing something we have never done before or connecting with others as a group. I don't believe that this is a 'metanormal' experience but actually one we can experience more if we allowed ourselves to.
****Cell-Level Healing by Dr. Joyce Whiteley Hawkes. After a near-death experience Joyce left her career as a biophysicist and embarked on a study of indigenous healing practices with priests and shamans in the Philippines, South India and Bali. Joyce shows that biology and spirituality are not separate entities in our lives. She shows how our thoughts change the functioning of our cells to repair and renew the body. Tap into your innate healing abilities with guidance from this book.
****Molecules of Emotion by Dr. Candace B. Pert. With courage, Candice shatters some cherished beliefs about the power of our emotions. Her research demonstrates how our internal chemicals, the neuropeptides and their receptors are the source of our awareness. This awareness precipitates our emotions, beliefs and expectations and ultimately how we respond to our world. Enlightening read. As Deepak Chopra states: "What we see is an image of a 'mobile brain'--one that moves throughtout our entire body, located in all places at once and not just in the head."
****The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy. This is an old classic but a must read if you are curious about the power and workings of your subconscious mind. After consciously working with the subconscious mind for over twenty-five years, I tend to agree with the author that our life is directed by what lives in our subconscious mind. The trick is to learn how to access this information and then to have the tools to change it if we so desire.
****The Ultimate Gift, is a wonderful movie about a privileged young man who finds himself but not by his choosing. It has the smackings of a typical movie about a rich kid but there are factors that make it definitely worth watching. James Garner portrays the deceased grandfather who leaves his grandson a video of things he has to do to qualify for his inheritance.
